Perfect for clipped formal hedges and various topiary shapes and one of if not the most commonly used shrubs in home foundation plantings, 'Compacta' Holly is a hardy and attractive boxwood-like evergreen shrub that responds very well to shearing. The small, rounded dark green leaves are densely packed on black stems. Ifr left to grow naturally will flower inconspicuously in spring followed by black berries. This Japanese holly so can be maintained at a height and width of 3 to 4 feet. When left to grow naturally it might reach 6 feet tall and wide.
