Deciduous shrub, 3-4 ft (0.9-1.2 m), wider than tall, compact, mounded. Leaves alternate, simple, oval-lanceolate, 2.5-7.5 cm long, bronze gold, with some red, in spring, yellow-green in summer, copper orange in fall. Blooms is summer, crimson flowers in 7.5-12 cm clusters.
Sun (best) to part shade. Tolerant of any soil, except those extremely wet.
